Janet Kendall

Janet Kendall earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado and worked as a personnel counselor for her alma mater. Occasionally, her cases had unhappy endings although she wished otherwise. Only in her imagination could she create uplifting stories, although, during that time, she and her sister began writing a book. They never finished it.

Still, Janet didn’t pursue a writing career even as the urge to become a storyteller blossomed. Instead, she quit her job, played tennis, went skiing with her husband, flirted with fashion designing, and freelance photography. She even taught herself how to use a table saw and put the siding on their greenhouse. But one day she found that old partial and challenged herself to write and complete a story.

After studying the craft and writing daily for three years, Janet sold her first romance novel, HUNTER OF MY HEART, to Harlequin Historicals. For support, she joined Romance Writers of America®, Windy City Romance Writers, Cactus Rose RWA®, and Beau Monde, a special interest RWA® chapter. Currently she is working on another historical novel.

When not writing or doing research, Janet shares her passion for flower gardening with her husband. Gardening has been a useful tool to add sensuality to her writing. She also collects porcelain dolls and research books, sews (she’s working on a historical wardrobe for her dolls), loves to shop, and has an eye for a good sale.

She and her husband recently moved from the Chicago suburbs to sunny Nevada where they are creating a little paradise in their backyard.
