After a divorce, she remarried and with her second husband moved to Calgary, Alberta Canada, where she received a B.SC. in Computer Sciences from the University of Calgary (And skied a lot!) She worked for many years as a mainframe programmer and analyst, but finally, after suffering what she calls "severe computer programming burn-out" she returned to her first love, writing.

Since then Shirley has discovered her comfortable niche as a Regency romance writer and has published six Regencies, one for Ballantine, the rest for Signet. Her seventh, Three Wishes for Miss Winthrop, also with Signet, will be in the bookstores in August 2003.

Currently she lives in Laughlin, Nevada, with her older daughter, Dianne, grandson Brent, and three cats named, respectively (with a little help from Shakespeare), Caesar, Brutus, and Romeo.
